* Owner first saw Tudor game on TV commercial in 1972 with coaches kicking field goals * Caught the buzz in 1972 while watching players run around on electric gridiron * Played in Memphis, Tennessee league in 1973 * Establish own league in 1974 with 5 other peple * Played in miniature football league for 6 consecutive seasons * Created first cardboard stadium in 1976 * Studied engineering in 1979 thru 1984 developing skills in architecture and structural analysis * Continued to play while in college (coming close to being kicked out of Tennessee because of extensive MF time) * Studied San Diego Chargers passing game and developed a more wide open perspective of miniature football (1983) * Developed first "crude" Coliseum in 1985 * Tudor went under so a decision to consider alternatives began * 1991 Mike Landsman of Miggle contacted me about electric football. * 1995 Sent Landsman one of our model stadiums to have re-created in Asia. Landsman decided against the stadium. * 1995 Established DFW League as a model for how to run a league with marketing ideas * 1996 Went to Miggle tournament to show displays. It was a hit! * 1996-Training Camps in Champagne and Chicago, Illinois to experiment with ruleset (Texas Shootout) * 1996-First Texas Shootout in Arlington, Texas Vince Peatros NY Jets 20, Jon Thomas Houston Oilers 7 (Championship) * 1996-1998 Decided to write magazine called Stadiumtalk (30 subscribers) * 1997-Texas Shootout held on Labor Day Weekend (Edgar Downs won over Durwood Lundy * 1999 Began to dabble in altering hard plastic figures into a more custom mold * Established weight scale of 3.2 grams which is utilize in some leagues around the country * Had conversations with one of the founders of Tudor, Norm Sahs who was a professor at Georgia Tech * 1998 Texas Shootout was played in Arlington, Texas with news media witnessing the re-birth of miniature football in the DFW area * 2001 Decided to invest in figurines for University of Tennessee projects but MFers persuaded us to show our work to MF world * Developed a 4.0 grams system based on the premise that 21st Century players were stronger and faster than those of the 20th Century plus the knowlege of physics showed a strong need for a slightly heavier figure * Footballfigures.com, based in Arlington, Texas, was established in August of 2001. * Innovations such as custom stadiums, custom gameboards, custom figures, custom decals, custom software, and many other accessories were soon shown to the EFL public * Did projects for John Mackey at the Mackey Awards in 2000 in Chicago, Illinois * 2002 profession contract with the Seattle Seahawks for commercials using FF.COM athletes. * Footballfigures.com serviced its 1,000 customer in 2002 * Footballfigures.com continues to impress through media with many innovations that no other miniature football company can or will provide * Owner of company decides to pursue a law career to study intellectual properties. Who knows where this is headed? * May 21, 2008 - NFL authorized power to shut down Footballfigures.com site * May 28, 2008 - Footballfigure.net, formerly known as Footballfigures.com, re-opened and is back! |
